An administrative mess-up left a dangerous driver waiting a further two weeks to learn his fate.
Nathan Crane, 27, pleaded guilty at the magistrates’ court to leading police on a four mile chase down the A34 near Oxford on July 6, which saw him hit speeds of 90mph in a Range Rover Evoque.
He admitted other charges, including assaults on two detention officers.
His police charge sheet correctly recorded which officer was beaten and which was the victim of a common assault.
However, his pleas to the two different assaults were incorrectly noted down when he appeared before the magistrates’ court earlier this month.
Recorder Anthony Cartin was told at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday that, although the mistake would make no difference to Crane’s sentence, if the case was not sent back to the magistrates’ court for the mistake to be corrected there was no other way of amending his list of previous convictions.
Adjourning the case for two weeks, Recorder Cartin accepted that it might ‘sound that we’re being trivial’ but it was important his previous convictions were correctly recorded.
Crane, of All Saints Road, Portsmouth, is due to be sentenced on August 9 for dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and assault.
