An alleged axeman has appeared before the courts accused of attacking three people.
Prosecutors say Taras Voinovich, 69, assaulted the three alleged victims on July 28 this year.
He has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to two – a man and woman – and causing actual bodily harm to a second man.
Voinovich is also accused of affray, damaging a window pane belonging to the man he allegedly wounded, and possession of an axe in Aston Street, east Oxford, on the day of the alleged assaults.
Appearing before Oxford Crown Court on Friday morning, Voinovich, of Islip Road, Oxford, entered no pleas to the charges against him. His barrister, Clare Evans, asked for the matter to be adjourned for the preparation of medical reports.
Judge Ian Pringle QC provisionally fixed a trial to start on January 9 next year, with the case expected to last four to five days. The defendant will return to court on October 7, when it is expected he will enter his pleas.
Jonathan Stone appeared for the Crown Prosecution Service, attending court remotely via a video link.
Voinovich, listening to the court proceedings through an interpreter, spoke only to confirm his name. He was remanded in custody to be produced at court for the next hearing in October.
