ATC gives boys a taste for flying

Members of the Air Training Corps were expected to learn everything they could about aircraft.

These two boys, Anton Bazyckiewicz, left, and Peter Collins, were being taught how to use an ejector seat.

They were, in fact, too young to join the ATC, but officials running the City of Oxford 150 Squadron were keen for them and others of a similar age to get a taste for flying.

Having whetted their appetite, they hoped they would become full-time members of the organisation once they were old enough.

The two officers giving Anton and Peter instruction were Flight Lieutenant J Dunford, left, and Warrant Officer C A Griffiths.

The squadron had launched a citywide campaign to attract new members.
