Anyone who hurts another with a knife ‘can expect to go to prison’, a judge warned.
Wadzanai Jaure, 40, had been due to stand trial this month accused of attacking another man with a blade in a house in Bourton Road, Banbury, on April 29.
He returned to Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and threatening another using a bladed article in a private place.
Bailing the dad-of-two to come back to court on October 5, Judge Maria Lamb said: “I’m prepared to adjourn for a pre-sentence report because he’s relatively lightly convicted.
“But somebody who harms another person with a knife can expect to go to prison and he needs to come back to this court with all his affairs in order.
“That is the warning and the advice I am giving him. [He is] very much looking at an immediate custodial sentence.
“I am prepared – just – to entertain bail while the pre-sentence report is being prepared, in the circumstances.
“But it holds out no indication whatsoever of what is going to happen on the next occasion. Do you understand that, Mr Jaure?”
The defendant replied: “Absolutely.”
Jaure, of Albert Street, Banbury, was represented during the court hearing by barrister Dana Bilan. Katie Doherty appeared for the Crown Prosecution Service.
