FORMER Oxford United boss Chris Wilder has been sacked by Sky Bet Championship side Middlesborough.

Wilder had been at the second tier side for 11 months and leaves with them 22nd in the league.

In a statement, the Teesside club said Wilder’s contract had been terminated with immediate effect.

The statement continued: “Leo Percovich will take over first team affairs in the interim basis, assisted by Craig Liddle, Mark Tinkler and Lee Cattermole.

“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Chris and his staff for all their hard work over the past 11 months.”

Wilder spent just over five years with the U’s between December 2008 and January 2014, before leaving for Northampton Town.

In 2010, Wilder ended United’s four-year exile in non-League football by guiding the club to promotion via the play-offs.
