An alleged shooter has been remanded in custody to appear before a circuit judge next month.

Emman Riasat, 21, of Outram Road, Cowley, entered no plea to a charge of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He was remanded in custody by Oxford magistrates this morning and is due before the crown court in four weeks' time for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

The court appearance follows a shooting in Cowley Road on Sunday night.

A man was allegedly shot in the shoulder near the junction with Crown Street at around 6.45pm.

He was taken to hospital but discharged by Monday morning. Police described the injury as minor.

Cowley Road was sealed off for more than two hours as forensics officers photographed the scene and a black Vauxhall Corsa was recovered.
