REPAIR experts helped fixing broken household items in a collaborative way during an event in Didcot.
The event, organised by Sustainable Didcot and Repair Café Oxfordshire at the civic hall, saw volunteer experts from local businesses including Slime Cycleworks and Radbourne Repairs helping visitors to fix broken items for free.
These included bikes, toys, clothes, clocks, watches, mechanical items and jewellery, as well as sharpening knives and tools.
Repair cafes are community events which match people with broken household and electronic items with skilled people who like fixing things.
The purpose of the events is to bring about a shift away from consumerism and viewing household items as disposable.
The focus is on skill-sharing and building community, as attendees are invited to learn how to fix their broken item alongside the repairers instead of throwing them away.
The next Repair Café in Didcot will take place on September 17.
