Greggs' in Cornmarket remained closed today for the third day running.

After shutting temporarily on Saturday for a short time, the Oxford city centre branch of the popular bakery chain shut on Wednesday and has remained closed ever since.

A sign on the door has informed customers of the 'temporary closure' and directs them to other branches but gives no further explanation.

A spokeswoman for the Greggs chain has also declined to give any further details.

The sign on the door says: "Sorry, we've had to temporarily close this shop, we'll be back soon! Our ovens are still baking at Cowley and Headington."

The Headington branch was open today.

There were celebrations and queues when Greggs opened the branch in March 2020 – the first in the city centre.

It features a spacious seating area upstairs.

It's not the first time the Cornmarket branch has experienced problems.

Difficulties with a nearby collapsed sewer forced it to close on August 17 last year and it didn't reopen until November.
