An Oxford student was found dead in her room in Banbury Road.
Canadian national Nabila Walji, 28, was unresponsive when she was discovered in her room at the HB Allen Building, a postgraduate accommodation block belonging to Keble College, on April 26.
Oxford Coroner’s Court heard that, following a post-mortem, the primary cause of her death was given as hypoxic brain injury due to ‘positional asphyxia’ and asthma.
She was identified to police officers at the scene by a friend, senior coroner Darren Salter said.
Ms Walji was said to have been born in Calgary, Canada, in 1993. She was a professional anthropologist, the court heard.
A full inquest will be held on November 30.
