OXFORD United’s trio of players on international duty enjoyed a mixed night away with their countries.

Jodi Jones grabbed an assist from the bench as Malta completed a late comeback victory at home to Israel.

The United winger joined the action at half-time, with his country trailing 1-0.

However, the 24-year-old got an assist for Alexander Satariano in the 84th minute, before Malta made it 2-1 two minutes later.

Jones made his Malta debut earlier in the international break, in a UEFA Nations League defeat against Estonia.

Ciaron Brown was again an unused substitute as Northern Ireland rounded off their Nations League campaign with a 3-1 defeat away to Greece.

Brown also remained on the bench for his country’s 2-1 win against Kosovo.

Northern Ireland finished third in League C Group 2, behind Greece and Kosovo, and ahead of Cyprus.

James Golding wasn’t involved as Republic of Ireland Under-19s beat their Hungarian counterparts 1-0.

The U’s defender joined up with the young Boys in Green for their Under-19 European Championships qualifiers Gibraltar, Wales and Hungary – even though he was not named in the squad.

Ireland’s win ensured they topped Group 4 with maximum points, and without conceding a goal.
