DETECTIVES have been given extra time to quiz a Wallingford murder suspect.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that the magistrates had granted an extension to the amount of time officers have to quiz the 28-year-old man.

They have until 5am tomorrow morning (Friday) to either charge the suspect, release him without charge or bail him to return to the police station on a future date.

The man was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murdering a woman in her 40s at a house in Blue Mountains, Wallingford.

The alleged victim’s name is yet to be released by the police. However, she has been named locally as married mum Katie Hurmuz-Irimia.

On Tuesday, the police said officers were called to the property at around 2am that morning. A woman had received serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
