OXFORD City responded to their relegation in a positive manner with victory at home to Wealdstone.

The Hoops’ fate was sealed last weekend, when they lost 2-1 at AFC Fylde, however they put that behind them for the time being with a 1-0 win against Vanarama National League strugglers Wealdstone.

Josh Parker scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half, when he converted a ball from Lewis Coyle for his 14th goal of the campaign.

The visitors pressed for an equaliser, and came close to one when Charlie Barker’s header was cleared off the line in stoppage time.

Banbury United saw their National League North clash at home to Hereford postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Puritans said in a statement: “At 10am, the patches of water were still present and the independent pitch inspection resulted in the match being called off.

“High river and brook levels around the pitch mean there is nowhere for the water to drain away to.

“As we know from many times before (this is our eighth match postponement this season), this is a river problem, not a pitch problem.”
