Oxford: Huge pile of fly tipping dumped below Sir David Attenborough mural

Aug 31, 2022

A huge pile of rubbish and fly tipping has been dumped beneath a mural of Sir David Attenborough.

The mural, which is on the side of East Oxford Games Hall in Collins Street, was designed to honour the Cowley Road Carnival theme of ‘mother nature’ in 2020.

Artist Andrew Mani Manson (The Big Orange M) created the artwork which illustrates the nature documentary maker softly staring at a brightly coloured butterfly.

A quote from Sir David himself beneath the painting reads: "The future of humanity and indeed all life on earth now depends on us."

Pictures taken of the mural now show that the two general waste bins are overflowing with bags, cardboard and other rubbish.

A majority of the dumped material sits on the floor in front of the bins and is about thigh height.
