Oxford United boss shares injury update for Marcus Browne and Elliott Moore

Sep 2, 2022

OXFORD United are still waiting to learn the full extent of Marcus Browne and Elliott Moore’s injuries.

The duo have not featured since the 2-1 defeat to Lincoln City on August 16 due to knee and thigh issues respectively.

Browne left the pitch in tears against the Imps, but an initial scan revealed the 24-year-old’s injury was not as bad as initially feared.

Two weeks on, Karl Robinson revealed another appointment today should give the U’s a better idea of how long the forward will be out.

United’s head coach said: “He’s seeing a specialist today, so we’ll probably know by about 5pm.

“The specialist he’s seeing seems relatively positive, but we’ve got to make sure with one or two scans and we’re waiting for those to come back as well.”

Moore played 90 minutes against Lincoln but was not fit enough to feature in the 1-1 draw with Morecambe four days later.

The centre back has since been treated for his thigh issue and United are waiting to see how he reacts.

Robinson said: “There’s still severe bleeding in there, he had the thigh drained last Monday and it got hard again underneath – I don’t know the full medical terminology of that.

“It’s not a massive one, not a ‘three-monther’ or anything like that, but it’s about getting it right.

“The bleeding in the thigh was a worry initially, that’s been bled and we’ll wait and see over the next week or so where that sits.”

Browne and Moore are among five U's players sidelined, along with Yanic Wildschut, Josh Murphy and Sam Baldock.
