OXFORD United Women remain without a win in National League Southern Premier after a 1-0 defeat at Rugby Borough.
The U’s had Katie Sherwood to thank with 17 minutes on the clock, as she got back to clear Lily Greenslade’s effort off the line after the striker had rounded Paris Sercombe.
The hosts did take the lead though after United failed to clear the ball and Angelina Nixon fired past Sercombe.

Izzy Cook nearly grabbed an equaliser approaching half-time, as she won the ball back and curled an effort just wide of the far post from the edge of the penalty box.
Zoe Barratt also had a strike saved at the near post by Erin Foley, however United couldn’t find a leveller and went into the break behind for the second game in a row.
The game became end-to-end in the second period as the U’s pushed forward and left gaps at the back.

Sercombe made a handful of saves, with Ellie Butler coming on for her United debut after 64 minutes, replacing Iesha Swaby.
Cecily Wellesley-Smith turned cleverly in the box and saw a deflected effort cleared off the line, while Barratt bent a shot wide of the post.
Sarah King saw a late effort saved by Foley, however the U’s were unable to find an equaliser.
The defeat leaves United with one point from their opening three league games of the season.
