POLICE has issued new temporary orders allowing them to break up groups in Oxford when their behaviour is causing “trouble”.
The Section 35 dispersal orders have been issued by Thames Valley Police for areas in East Oxford, mainly streets surrounding Cowley Road, and Oxford City Centre including Gloucester Green, Cornmarket Street and George Street.

The orders, which are part of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 200, gives police “extra powers to break up groups of two or more people, where they believe their behaviour is causing a nuisance, harassment or distress”.

They will be in place from 7pm tonight (29) until 7am on Sunday morning (31).
The areas under the order
Thames Valley Police said: “The orders relate to recent incidents of disorder between two groups, which have resulted in members of the public receiving injuries.”
