ROSS Jenkins reflected on a perfect Bank Holiday weekend after Oxford City beat Hampton & Richmond Borough to claim their second win in 48 hours.

Klaidi Lolos and Aaron Williams-Bushell scored at the end of each half to give the hosts a 2-0 victory at the RAW Charging Stadium.

It earned City their fourth successive win without conceding, moving them up to fifth in Vanarama National League South.

Jenkins’ side beat Weymouth by the same scoreline on Saturday and the head coach praised his players for coping with the tight turnaround.

He said: “The boys applied themselves brilliantly and everyone to a man ran themselves into the ground.

“When you give that as a minimum, you’ve got half a chance of winning a game of football.

“We’ve earned this win, we’ve recovered together and done the work off the field to prepare for this game.

“To walk away with the points feels good, so credit to everyone involved.”

Lolos gave City the lead with virtually the last kick of the first half, converting a penalty in stoppage-time to take his tally to five goals in five games.

Both sides went close after the break but the hosts eventually sealed victory, through Williams-Bushell.

The wing back started the previous two matches on the bench while he recovered from a dead leg and was delighted to seize his opportunity.

“It’s good that we kept the winning streak going, we had a tough Bank Holiday weekend but the boys did what they had to do,” he said.

“I hate missing games, but I was happy to be starting and do what I could to help the team win. I’m over the moon.”
