Scales of Justice: Cases sentenced at Oxford Magistrates’ Court

SEBASTIAN SLEVIN, 40, of Luther Street, Oxford, pleaded guilty to driving while over the limit for cocaine, benzoylecgonine and morphine in Souldern on April 7 and while over the limit for cocaine and benzoylecgonine in Bassett Avenue, Bicester, the following day. He was fined £132.80, banned from driving for a year and a half and must pay £85 in costs to the prosecution.

ZAIN AFZAL, 22, of Wantage Road, Rowstock, pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation Glock handgun in Rowstock on January 21 last year. He was fined £76, the gun was forfeit to the police and the magistrates ordered that Afzal pay £119 in costs and surcharge.

CAROLINE WALLS, 46, of Linnet Close, Oxford, admitted stealing £362-worth of property from a Waitrose in Thame and £353-worth of goods from Asda in Wheatley. She was given a 10 week prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

ELLIS SINNOTT, 24, of Linacre Close, Didcot, pleaded guilty to beating three people, a racially-aggravated assault on a fourth person, and damaging fairy lights and fencing belonging to one of the victims of the assaults. The offences were all committed in Oxford on December 2 last year. He must pay a total of £580 in compensation and complete a mental health treatment requirement and wear a GPS tag until November 2 as part of a 12-month community order.

SALLYANNE BULEN, 52, of Oaklands Road, Bexleyheath, admitted driving a Ford C-Max on Shirburn Street, Watlington, in January while more than twice the drink drive limit. Breath tests showed she had 74mcgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35. She was fined £300, banned from driving for 16 months and must pay £334 in costs and surcharge.

RUDY POLLARD, 55, of no fixed address, was fined £120 for possession of cocaine in Oxford in March.

DAVID PAINTIN, 41, of Cumberland Road, Cowley, was found guilty in his absence of going equipped for theft of a motor vehicle. He was caught in Magdalen Road, east Oxford, with a screwdriver. He was given a community order with a drugs rehabilitation programme. The magistrates also fined him £50 for failing to attend a previous court hearing. He was ordered to pay £395 in costs and surcharge.

JESSICA GRANGER, 26, of Rectory Road, Oxford, admitted three counts of common assault. She must complete an alcohol treatment programme as part of a 12-month community order and pay £100 in compensation to one of her victims. The magistrates imposed £180 in costs and surcharge.

KRZYSZTOF WOJTAKOWSKI, 52, of Hayworth Road, London, pleaded guilty to driving a Chrysler carelessly on Horspath Driftway in June and also admitted driving while three times the drink-drive limit. He must do 120 hours of unpaid work and wear an alcohol abstinence monitoring tag for 90 days. He was disqualified from driving for 26 months and ordered to pay £18 in costs and surcharge.

CHARLES BENFIELD, 43 of Mawle Court, Banbury, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford tipper truck on Pioneer Way, Bicester, while disqualified from holding a licence, over the limit for cocaine derivative benzoylecgonine and while uninsured. He was given a community order with a mental health treatment requirement, drug rehabilitation programme and a four month curfew. He was banned from the roads for three years and must pay £180 in costs and surcharge.
