Scales of Justice: Latest cases from Oxford Magistrates’ Court

RACHEL PAINTON, 51, of High Street, Drayton, admitted being almost three times the drink drive limit. Tests showed she had 102mcgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath after she was stopped behind the wheel of a black Mini in Steventon in May. The legal limit is 35mcgs. She was fined £287, banned from driving for 23 months and must pay £119 in costs and surcharge.

MELISSA ROBERTS, 36, of Henley Walk, Carterton, pleaded guilty to driving an Audi A4 on the A420 near Buckland when she had 149mcgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath – more than four times the limit. She was sentenced to a 12-month community order with a 120 alcohol abstinence curfew tag. The magistrates banned her from driving for three years and ordered she pay £180 in costs and surcharge.

JODY COLLINS, 43, of Forgeway, Banbury, admitted failing to provide a specimen of blood in Banbury after being stopped on suspicion of a traffic offence and using disorderly behaviour at the Horton General Hospital last December. He was fined £120, banned from driving for 20 months and must pay £85 in costs.

SUMAN SARU, 31, of Hawthorn Walk, Bicester, admitted driving a Honda Accord in Buckingham Road, Bicester, without insurance and while over the drug drive limit for cannabis. He was fined £461 for each offence, banned from the roads for a year and must pay £177 in costs and surcharge.

LUKE GLEESON, 35, of Queens Avenue, Kidlington, admitted damaging a VW Polo, possession of a kitchen knife in Gregory Place, Witney, in January, and possession of cannabis. He was jailed for six months for having the knife and ordered to pay £500 in compensation to the owner of the damaged car. The magistrates imposed £100 in costs.

TRYSTAN PATTINSON, 33, of Richard Gray Court, Oxford, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man in Botley Road in January. He was ordered to do up to 30 probation sessions as part of a community order and must pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

HUYEN NGUYEN, 31, of Handsworth, Birmingham, admitted driving a BMW 335d on the M40 while over the drug drive limit for cannabis. He was fined £230, banned from driving for 18 months and must pay £119 in costs and surcharge.

STEVEN PERSAUD, 40, of Wytham View, Eynsham, pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly behaviour in Walton Street, Jericho, in March. He was given a £50 fine, six month conditional discharge and must pay a £34 victim surcharge.

DAVID COLLISON, 47, of Rhosddu Road, Wrexham, admitted breaching the terms of the sex offenders register by failing to complete his annual notification with the police on or before September 29 last year. The magistrates imposed a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered he pay £107 in costs and surcharge.
