A man has appeared in court accused of more than 20 counts of child sex abuse.

Alala Kesahit, 30, of Headley Way, Oxford, faces 22 allegations of rape, child rape, assault by penetration of a child under-13, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and causing actual bodily harm.

The charges relate to alleged offending against three complainants, including two children, between the mid-2010s and 2022.

Speaking through an Tetum interpreter at Oxford Crown Court on Monday, Kesahit pleaded not guilty to all the charges he faces.

Standing in the dock wearing a scarlet rosary around his neck and holding a tan leather-bound copy of the Bible in his hands, he spoke only to confirm his not guilty pleas.

Judge Maria Lamb remanded the defendant into custody until the trial on March 20 next year.
