This is the moment police caught up with a dangerous driver who ‘could have killed several people’.

Terence Hedley, 49, was jailed for a year-and-a-half by Judge Nigel Daly last month for the M40 police chase that saw him hit 90mph before taking the Oxford turning onto the A40.

As reported by the Oxford Mail, Judge Daly said: “Having been driving dangerously on the motorway you continued to drive dangerously when you came off the motorway.

“You were overtaking vehicles, crossing double white lines. That could easily have resulted in a head-on collision, killing innocent people driving along in a perfectly normal fashion.

“It was fortune that prevented that from happening.”

Thames Valley Police has released footage from the chase, which was played in the courtroom.

Roads policing officer PC Martin Woodford said: “As the roads policing unit we will target offenders who drive whilst impaired and driving dangerously to keep the public safe on the roads.

“People committing these offences will be put before the courts.”

Hedley, of Gwyneth Road, Littlemore, admitted dangerous driving, drug driving and driving without a valid licence or insurance.
