GARY Rowett expects Stan Mills to be involved for Oxford United ‘fairly soon’.
The 21-year-old winger rejoined the U’s on a permanent basis on Friday night after moving from Everton for an undisclosed fee.
The switch came too late for him to play a part in the weekend’s draw at home against Bristol City, and Mills wasn’t then included in the squad for last night’s trip to Burnley.
Mills suffered a serious knee injury while on loan at United in January 2024 and he returned to first team training with the Toffees in December.

U’s head coach Rowett said: “It was difficult to bring him in and put him straight in the squad. Firstly, because other players have done very well for me in this period and I like to be fair to players and give them that respect.
“Stan travelled with the team to be around us. He’s only had one training session, so he’ll have a good couple of days now to breathe and recover, and then we’ll get a couple of really good training sessions in before we prepare for Derby.
“It’ll be an opportunity for him to show a little bit more of what he’s got it, and I’d expect him to be involved fairly soon.”
