Abingdon’s Annual Heritage Day returns

HISTORY fans in Abingdon are invited to take part in the town's contribution to the national Heritage Open Days festival.

The event will see six historic buildings in the town opening their doors for free on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18.

Visitors can also expect exhibitions, history trails and walks.

The event, which is managed by Friends of Abingdon Civic Society which works closely with the Abingdon and Area Archaeological and Historical Society, will also talks from special guests.

It has been running since 2003 and attracts thousands of visitors per year. There is a different theme each year and this year's theme is "Innovation and Invention".
