A BOLLARD in a low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) appears to have been covered in anti-vandal paint just hours after a council said it had been made safe.

The bollard in the Littlemore Road LTN was reportedly greased on Tuesday, to prevent it being pulled out of the ground, however has now once again been covered in what appears to be anti-vandal paint.

Oxfordshire County Council sorted out the initial greasing of the bollard, with a spokesperson telling the Oxford Mail yesterday: ““This is obviously something we take very seriously, as tampering with bollards can present a significant safety risk to road users, pedestrians and cyclists alike.

“We remain committed to making safe and reinstating any damaged filters, each time at significant cost to the taxpayer.”

Amir Steve Ali, who spotted the greased Littlemore Road bollard earlier this morning, said: “They are trying to make the LTN area safe for kids, but to me with this black grease, it is not safe for kids in case they touch it.”

The county council has been contacted for an update.
