Man denies coercive and controlling behaviour charge

A man is accused of threatening to ‘kick their unborn child to death’ during a two-year campaign of controlling behaviour towards his then partner.

Jay Reynolds, 25, is said by the Crown Prosecution Service to have subjected the woman to repeated threats and bullying from 2020 until July 24 this year.

Prosecutor Amy King said Reynolds allegedly told his partner he would ‘kill’ their unborn child, ‘burn the house down’ if she left him and would ‘kick their unborn child to death’. He was also said to have ‘insisted’ that she have a termination.

Appearing before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Reynolds, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour.

District Judge Kamlesh Rana remanded him in custody to appear at the crown court on August 22.
