Trains have been running at slower speeds this week while the new track beds after the station was closed for work over nine days starting from Saturday, July 29
Yesterday, Network Rail Western workers completed a day of follow-up work, re-compacting the stone to enable trains to run at full speed.
Three 75mph high-speed crossovers, where trains change tracks, were installed north of the station between Walton Well Road bridge and Aristotle Lane footbridge.
Network Rail said these would make it quicker and easier for trains to get in and out of the station and make way for an additional line and platform to be installed in 2024 for the new East West Rail services.
Lineside signalling equipment was also upgraded with work taking place on Osney Lane footbridge and some platforms in the station.
The work was part of a £161million station and railway upgrade by Network Rail.
