Oxfordshire police make drink and drug driving arrests

Police in Oxfordshire arrested several people for drug and drink driving last night, as well as seizing vehicles from the offending motorists.

Police in Oxford and Bicester pulled over at least four drivers throughout the evening and the early hours of the morning.

This is what happened:

Oxford

Thames Valley Police officers pulled over a Ford Transit Tipper in the city during the evening.

The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

At the station, the motorist subsequently blew a 93 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, the limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The driver also had no licence or insurance.

The vehicle was seized and taken to weighbridge where found to be nearly one ton overweight.

Some hours later, officers spotted a van with a defective headlight.

When they turned to speak to the driver, the vehicle ducked into a random driveway.

The driver was detained and failed a breath test and was then arrested

The motorist blew 86 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, the limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The van was recovered as it was causing an obstruction in the driveway.

A third driver was stopped in Oxford on the Northern Bypass and provided a positive drug wipe.

The offender was taken into custody in Abingdon where they were given a blood test.

Results of this test are currently pending.

Bicester

Meanwhile, in Bicester, a vehicle was stopped for having cloned plates on the A4421.

The driver provided police with a positive drugwipe for cocaine and was arrested.

The vehicle was seized by officers and the offender is currently enroute to Abingdon for a blood test.
