Paul Scholes in crowd for Shrewsbury Town v Oxford United

Mar 31, 2024

PAUL Scholes was in attendance as Oxford United were held to a draw at Shrewsbury Town on Good Friday.

The Manchester United legend is understood to have been on a scouting mission for Salford City, who he co-owns alongside fellow Class of 92 stars David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, and Gary and Phil Neville.

Salford appointed former U’s head coach Karl Robinson as boss in January, and he has since guided the side to six wins from his first 16 games in Sky Bet League Two.

Scholes was sat directly in front of the press box at the New Meadow, and happily had his picture taken with a raft of supporters at half-time.

The former England midfielder watched on as Billy Bodin gave United the lead eight minutes into the second half, and left with approximately 20 minutes to go, so missed the Shrews equaliser via Jack Price.

Scholes netted 155 goals in 718 appearances for the Red Devils, and won an astonishing 11 Premier League titles, three FA Cups, two Champions League titles, and two League Cups during his time at Old Trafford.

He also scored 14 goals across his 66 caps for England.
