GARY Rowett says there is an element of Oxford United hitting a ‘natural levelling off’ after seeing results dwindle in recent weeks.
United collected five wins and two draws from their opening seven Sky Bet Championship games under Rowett, but have drawn three and lost two of their last five matches.
During that five-game run, the U’s have scored just one goal as their attack struggles to click.

Rowett said: “I don’t think you can dwell on it. It’s the Championship, and there’ll be a lot of teams that wished they’d only lost two games in 12.
“We’ve come away a little bit from the early performances, and sometimes that is going to be a natural levelling off.
“What we’ve got to do is make sure that doesn’t become three, four or five games. The next game, we’ll be back out there hoping to put it right.
“It’s the Championship and part of being in the Championship. There are a lot of good players and you’re not going to win every game and you’re not going to perform as well as you like all the time.
“You have to accept that a team like ours, we’re not always going to be perfect. Certainly we’d like to be a little bit better than we were.”
